Gems hold special you tell nobody.  Jewelry itself does not hold when use something, only the gems jewelry contain.  There are limits to how many imbued gems each person can wear before the magic aura produced by the articles will interact and short circuit, resulting in none of the items functioning.

This chart outlines the limits of gems a player can carry.  More than this makes all of them malfunction and not work until some have been removed.  Gems installed into Staves, wands or other weapons to not apply to this gem count.

Jewelry.  The grade is important for knowing relative value of for selling to a vendor and determining if it has been perfected and to what level for accepting an imbuement

Alchemist’s Minor Gem

Alters the cut and solidity of a gem so that it can be used to store a spell up to level 15.  The Alchemist who created the stone can cast any spell onto the gem.  That spell will be available for the Alchemist to cast.  Once the spell is discharged the Alchemist can recharge the gem with any spell; it can be different each time.  Alchemist’s minor Gem can only be used by the Alchemist who created it.  An alchemist can only have one Alchemist Gem in use at any time.

Fractal Gem

This spell prepares a gem for a single permanent imbuement to be placed upon it. 

Cast time: 1 minute per level of imbuement to be imbued into the gem. 

Cost: 6 spell points +1 spell point per level of the imbuement to be placed in the gem.

Gem Binding

This spell must be cast upon the gem after each time the target spell is cast on it.  Because creating an imbued gem is tedious and delicate work Gem Binding spell can only be cast on a gem once per day, and the target spell must be cast on the page once for every level of the spell.  So, if you want to create a magical gem with a level 15 spell imbued into it, it will require 15 days to create, during which you will cast this spell after each time the target spell is cast on the page.

Cast time: 1 minute + 1 minute per level of the imbuement spell being cast on the gem.

Cost: 7 spell points +1 spell point per level of the imbuement spell being cast on the gem.

Imbed Gem

This spell sets an imbued gem into a piece of prepared jewelry, as in the level 4 ‘Simple Jewelry’ spell.   This spell can also be used to remove an imbedded gem temporarily and imbed it into another properly prepared piece of jewelry.

Cast time: 1 round per level of the imbued gem’s imbued spell.

Cost: 8 spell points +1 spell point per level of the imbued gem’s imbued spell.

Imbue Gem – Follow these steps for making a magical gem and imbedding it into jewelry.

1.       Cast ‘Fractal Gem’ spell on a gem to prepare it for receiving the magic imbuement.  Note the cast time and cost.

2.       Cast the selected ‘Imbuement spell’ or ‘target spell’ onto the gem.  It will be absorbed by the gem.  Another spell caster can do this each time it is required.

3.       Cast ‘Gem Binding’ spell onto the item. Note the cast time and cost.

4.       Roll a ‘success roll’ described below.  The gem will either (1) imbue successfully that day; (2) fail for that day and require an additional day to create; or (3) disintegrate and cast the spell randomly.

5.       Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4 each day for a total of days equal to 2X the imbuement spell’s level, plus 2 days for any days where the Alchemist failed his ‘success roll’ in step 4.

6.       Cast ‘Imbed Gem’ spell to set the gem into a piece of jewelry suitable for containing the magical gem.  A magical gem does not have to be set in jewelry to use its imbuement, but it then must be in the user’s hand to use, making jewelry the simpler and easier option.

Notes:

a.       An Alchemist cannot imbue a gem with a spell greater than his level.

b.      There is a 25% base chance that each day when the ‘Gem Binding’ spell is cast that an article will disintegrate or be defective.

·         25 + level of spell = adjusted failure

·         1-100 roll + Alchemist’s Character level + Intellect Stat Bonus = success roll

·         If the player’s ‘success roll’ is higher than the ‘adjusted failure’ then the ‘Imbue’ spell was successful for that day.

If the ‘success roll’ is more than 20 points below the ‘adjusted failure’ then the article disintegrates and randomly casts the spell towards a target within 30’.

Spell Points Imbuement

Imbuement for +1 to spell points.  The caster can increase the effects of this spell by casting it multiple times on the gem.  But, once the first imbuement amount is set it cannot be changed.  This spell is used to accumulate a single gem to +20.  The Alchemist can only cast this spell a number of times per day equal to his character level.

Cost: 9 spell points x the number of spell point capacity desired.

Spell Points Regeneration

An imbuement that Increases the spell point regeneration effects of resting and eating by 25%

Minor skill Imbuement

Caster can cast a +1 to any skill (to be chosen at time of imbuement).  The caster can increase the effects of this spell by casting it multiple times on the gem.  But, once the first imbuement amount is set it cannot be changed.  If the caster casts this spell 3 times and then binds it, the gem will become a +3 imbued gem once completed and the imbuement must continue to be cast 3 times between Gem Bindings.  This spell can only accumulate on a single gem to +10.  The Alchemist can only cast this spell a number of times per day equal to his character level.

Minor protection imbuement

Caster can cast a +1 resistance to any element, magic type, poison, disease, etc. onto a gem.  Apply the same rules and restrictions as the level 11 minor skill imbuement spell

Minor Defense Imbuement

Caster can cast a +1 defense onto a gem.  Apply the same rules and restrictions as the level 11 minor skill imbuement.

Cast time: 1 minute

Minor Stat Increase imbuement

Caster can cast +1 to a chosen stat onto a gem (to be chosen at time of imbuement).  Apply the same rules and restrictions as the level 11 minor skill imbuement, except this imbuement is limited to +5 stat increase.

Minor Health regeneration imbuement

Caster places an imbuement on a gem that will regenerate health +1 health point per minute, to a maximum of +5 health points per minute.  There are 10 rounds in a minute, so this can be as much as +1 health regeneration every 2 rounds.   This regeneration can be used once per day and lasts for 30 minutes once triggered.

Spell Points Pool imbuement

Turns a gem into a pool of spell points that can be regenerated instantly.  The caster transfer’s spell points into the gem and the gem stores them until the caster uses the gem’s imbuement and calls them out replenishing his spell points equal to the pooled spell points.  This spell must be cast once for each spell point the Alchemist wants to add to the pool’s capacity.  If the pool will be 10 spell points this spell must be cast 10 times in step 2 of the Gem Imbuement process.

Cost: 16 spell points per every spell point pool.

Cast time: 1 minute

Spell Void imbuement

This gem imbuement provides a 25% chance that any spell cast at the wearer of the gem will be totally negated.  This can only occur once per day.   The Spell Void effect only works on spells 2x the wearer’s character level or less.

Double Gem Binding

This spell is used to apply two different imbuements to a gem.  This spell would replace the level 7 ‘Gem Binding’ spell.  The restrictions on maximum effects still apply.  Thus you cannot put two of the same imbuement on a gem to make it 2x the restrictions.

Cast time: 1 minute + 1 minute per level of the imbuement spell being cast on the gem.

Cost: 25 spell points +1 spell point per level of the imbuement spell being cast on the gem.

Mirror  Spell damage imbuement

Any damage received by the wearer has a 25% chance of for 5% of the base damage also being mirrored back to the attacker.  The wearer still receives the full damage. No critical damage or damage over time effects are mirrored.

This gem imbuement provides a 25% chance that any spell cast at the wearer of the gem will be captured in the gem and allow the wearer to cast the spell back toward the target during the next 5 rounds as if cast by the attacker.  This can only occur once per day.  The Spell Capture effect only works on spells 2x the wearer’s character level or less

Greater Health regeneration imbuement

Caster places an imbuement on a gem that will regenerate health +1 health point per minute, to a maximum of +10 health points per minute.  There are 10 rounds in a minute, so this can be as much as +1 health regeneration per round.   This regeneration can be used once per day and lasts for 30 minutes once triggered.

Master Gem Crafter

This spell takes the place of all the daily spells which the Alchemist must cast while imbuing a gem imbuement. The gem must have had the target spell cast onto it once before this spell can be used.  After the first cycle of steps 2, 3 and 4 are completed, the Alchemist can use this spell once each day and it replaces steps 2 and 3, eliminating the need to have the imbuement spell cast each day.  Also, the base chance for failure in step 4 is reduced to 10%.

Master Alchemists Gem

Alters the cut and solidity of a gem so that it can be used to store two spells of any level.  The Alchemist who created the stone can cast any spell onto the gem.  That spell will be available for the Alchemist to cast.  Once the spell is discharged the Alchemist can recharge the gem with any spell; it can be different each time.  A Master Alchemist’s Gem can only be used by the Alchemist who created it.  An alchemist can only have one Alchemist Gem in use at any time.
