Wards and Glyphs Spell List[]

A ward is a thumb to fist sized magical intricate symbol that rests on an object until the trigger event occurs.  A glyph a 1’ or greater pattern drawn in magical energies that contains a spell that is set off by the trigger event.  All wards and glyphs are difficult to detect.  They cannot be detected without a magic detection spell by characters of the caster’s level or lower.   A creature of a higher level than the caster gets a save verses magic to detect the glyph, although they may not be able to do anything about it, nor understand what it does.

·         Glyphs require one round per level of the glyph to cast. 

·         Wards are casted as other spells – in a single round.

Stats

1 Glyph of passing The glyph alerts the caster if a creature passes over the glyph and

gives an estimated size.    Glyph is 1 foot wide by up to 5 feet long.

Duration 1 hour + 10 minutes per level of caster.

Small Ward

The caster places a ward on an object that acts as a magical trigger if the object is touched or moved the caster is alerted.  The small warding is only the size of a thumb print.

Duration 1 hour + 10 minutes per level of caster.

Thief Secure Ward

The caster places a ward on a lock that reduces a thief’s ability to pick that lock by 10.

Duration 1 hour + 10 minutes per level of caster.

Flash Glyph

The glyph explodes in a flash that causes spots in front of the eyes of all foes within 20 feet of the glyph.

Duration 1 hour + 10 minutes per level of caster, or until triggered. Targets at -10 for 4 rounds.

Ward of hearing

Caster places a ward on an object of any material that allows him to hear what is occurring around the object as if he was there. 

Range 20 feet +10 feet per level of caster.

Healing glyph

While a character is inside the glyph he is healed for 1-10 points of damage.  Glyph is large enough for one person to stand, sit or lay across.

Duration 6 rounds.

Minor barrier glyph

Caster places a glyph on the ground any ranged attacks, physical or magical, -10 to hit if they pass over the glyph and if it was a spell requiring a saving through anyone on this side of the glyph gets a +4 to save.

Duration 1 round per level of caster.

Weapon Ward

Caster places a ward on a weapon that provides +15 to hit.  Using 16 spell points gives +30 to hit; using 24 spell points gives +40; using 32 spell points gives +50; each additional multiple adds +5.

Duration 1 round per level of caster.

Caster’s Rest

Caster places a glyph around himself that allows him to sleep in silence, sounds pass through but are muffled and alerts him if anyone comes within 10’ of him as he sleeps.

Duration 1 hour per level of caster up to 10 hours.

Minor Speed Glyph

Allows the caster to create any glyph of a lower level than this spell in a round.  The cost of this spell and the cost of the glyph spell are both expended.

Armor Ward

Caster places a ward on a piece of armor or clothing of any type that will add a +25 to defense.

Duration 1 round per level of caster.

Loaded glyph

Allows the caster to create a glyph that is 10’ by 10’ and if a trigger condition is met – creature or person – crosses into the glyph a spell of equal level or less is released.  The caster creates the glyph and then casts the desired glyph onto it creating a trap.

Duration 1 hour + 10 minutes per level of caster, or until triggered. Targets at -10 for 4 rounds.

Ward Bomb

Caster creates a ball of spirit into a ward that can be cast as an attack spell at a target.

0-30=+15;

31-60= +10;

61-90= -5;

91-120= -20;

121-150= -50

Ward of Presence

Caster places a ward on an object of any material that allows him to hear and see what is occurring around the object as if he was there. 

Range 20 feet +10 feet per level of caster.

Greater glyph of peace

Cast a glyph that covers a circle 50’ around that a party can camp or otherwise stay inside.  Anything that approaches the party will set off the glyph alerting the caster what crossed the glyph – what animal type, creature type, humanoid type.  It does not give details just tells the caster if it was a bear or a mouse.  It can be adjusted down in size and shape to fill a room, or set to only go off if something larger than 10lbs crosses it, etc.

Duration 1 hour per level of caster up to 10 hours.

Projected Glyph of Binding

The caster can instantly hurl a glyph toward a location.  Any creatures that on within the area of effect at the time the glyph is cast or move through it move at -50 movement speed while in the glyph and the effects last for 3 rounds after leaving the area of the glyph.  Thus the foe attacks only every other round and moves at ½ speed and his defense in reduced by -10.  The glyph is 20 feet in diameter.

Duration 1 round per level of caster up to 20 rounds. Effects last on foe while within the glyph and for 3 rounds after leaving the glyph.

Glyph of Battle

Creates a glyph that is 30’ in diameter, or smaller if the caster desires that produces the following effects for all allies within the glyph: +30 to attack, +30 defense, +10 to save throws to save or attack.  Cast time is 10 rounds.

Duration 5 rounds +1 round per level of caster

Greater Barrier Glyph

Caster places a glyph on the ground any ranged attacks, physical or magical, -25 to hit if they pass over the glyph and if it was a spell requiring a saving through anyone on this side of the glyph gets a +10 to save.

Duration 1 round per level of caster.

Glyph of cooperation

Allows a the caster to create a loaded glyph of level 12 from this list, that allows a spell of level 12 or lower to be cast upon it, except this glyph will capture a spell cast by another friendly spell caster.

Duration 1 hour + 10 minutes per level of caster, or until triggered. Targets at -10 for 4 rounds.

Glyph perfection or Ward

Adds 1 hour per level of caster to any glyph or ward casted up to 24 hours in length.  Except for healing wards, for which 1 round per level of caster is added.

Major Speed glyph

Allows the caster to create any glyph of a lower level than this spell to be cast.  The cost of this spell and the cost of the glyph spell are both expended.  If cast on a higher level glyph it reduces the cast time by ½ time.

Glyph of Restoration

Caster creates a glyph that restores 50 health per round for all allies who stand within it. The glyph is 30’ in diameter.  Cast time is 10 rounds.

Power Glyph

Cast upon any existing glyph on this list below this spell makes it permanent or until it is triggered.  Cast time or this spell is one round.  The cast time of the glyph being powered is not changed.

Glyph of War

Creates a glyph that is 40’ in diameter, or smaller if the caster desires that produces the following effects for all allies within the glyph: +50 to attack, +50 defense, +20 to save throws to save or attack.  Cast time is 10 rounds.

45

Death Ward

Caster places a ward upon his person that if he is killed he slips into an out of body spirit form.  He can observe and speak telepathically to his allies.  He stays this spirit form until the duration of the spell is reached or until he releases himself back into his body.  At that point mortal wounds will be healed and he will be at 10% life and 50% spell points.

Perpetual Glyph or Ward

Castes any glyph or ward on this list and makes it permanent and causes the glyph to be reset after 15 seconds to full strength when it is triggered.  The resetting of the glyph can be done as many times as the level of the caster at the time it was cast.  So, a level 45 caster could create a level 12 loaded glyph loaded with a fireball and it could be triggered and reset 45 times before it was used up.

Duration – the glyph can be triggered as many times as the level of the caster and otherwise exists for ever.
